1 Scope

1.1 This outline of investigation covers Communications Cable Assemblies (PATCH CORDS) used in Power over Local Are Network (LAN) Cable Networks. These assemblies terminate in plug connectors and are evaluated for power delivery over balanced twisted-pair cabling. PATCH CORDS are tested and rated for the per-conductor current they can carry without exceeding the temperature ratings of the PATCH CABLE or the connector materials. Permitted current ratings are from 0.1 to 1.0 ampere per conductor, in 0.1 ampere increments.
